Elevation in the spirit is driven through trials and tribulations (James 1:2-8), long suffering, pain and other fleshly symptoms that draws you closer to God (James 4:8). Today my face is swollen from a toothache that has been going on for years because I do not have the money or insurance. I have been using natural methods to help until I am able to go. I haven't been having problems, but this pain suddenly started happening on Monday August 12, 2019. I had an appointment scheduled for 11:15 a.m today, but my husband called around 9:00 a.m and stated he could not take me because he couldn't get off work. The dentist will not have another appointment for a new patient until October 31, 2019. This is the time when my flesh rises with problems, but instead of me worrying I press in even more to pray in the spirit because I know God is taking care of me. I know I am married, but some times my husband has a spirit of strife. He knows that I am in pain and feeling bad, but yet he makes some excuse up about not being able to get off work. He calls me to ask many questions that appeared to annoy me and focus me on frustration. The infection in my face is not enough for him to get off work and it doesn't stop him from sending annoying messages such as, "you didn't say you loved me today", I hope you feel better, but doing nothing to contribute to me feeling better other than asking questions that are not helping my current situation. This is an example of how God is killing my flesh in this relationship. He is using his emotions to tame mine. I have no money and no car to do the things I needed to do and I have to rely on someone else who provides the resources when it is convenient for him. But I continue hearing God say, I will supply all of your needs (Phil. 4:19). God is showing me that his grace is sufficient (2 Cor. 12:9) for me regardless of what I am experiencing at this moment and continue to walk in the spirit. Elevation is a continuous walk with God.
James 1:2-8 BibleGateway.com (NKJV)
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 4:8 BibleGateway.com (NKJV)
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Philippians 4:19 BibleGateway.com (NKJV)
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 12:9 BibleGateway.com (NKJV)
And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
