Put on the Shoes of Peace

Updated: Oct 9, 2019

The Holy Spirit has been teaching me to "Put on my Shoes of Peace" this week (Eph. 6:15 NLT). Walking in peace is not easy because there are words I want to say, but the spirit forces my flesh (mouth) to be quiet. I have walked in the flesh for so long it was first nature to me to speak what I needed to say even when it was the right thing to say. The communication in this relationship is not about being right, but about being obedient to Christ who has redeemed me from the curse of my mouth and sin. I remember people use to tell me, "its's not what you say, its how you say it". Regardless of how I said it or what I said, it was right, but not in the perspective the Holy Spirit needed me to deliver. People usually know they are wrong which is why they get offended. In the future, I don't need to say anything because they would have to repent and turn from their ways. In the meantime, I say nothing and let the Holy Spirit go before me and tailor my words.

An example of how I needed to be quiet and walk in peace is the scheduling of my dental appointment. I wasn't able to go to the dentist yesterday because my husband had to work. He called me yesterday and asked me to find another dentist and schedule an appointment for Monday. I contacted a dentist today and they had a 10:00 am appointment for Monday August 19, 2019. The Holy Spirit directed me to ask the young lady for another appointment. She also had Wednesday August 21, 2019 at 11:00 am. I let her know I would call her back with a confirmed date and time. I texted him and asked if Monday at 10:00 am was good and waited on his response. He is off Monday, so I thought that would work, and also he asked for me to schedule an appointment on that date. When he texted me back, he said do they have a Wednesday appointment. I immediately responded and said yes at 11:00 am. He said, cool. This was an example of how I could have went into battle with him in my flesh about the day because I was going to request the date he originally stated without contacting him first. I have experienced this many times in the past with him and it caused us to argue. If I did not listen to the Holy Spirit, I would have went into a fleshy battle with the fruit of (strife) instead of dealing with the root of (peace and self-discipline).

At this moment in my walk with God, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but the pulling down of strongholds (2 Cor. 10:3-6 NKJV). He appears to be this man following God through structure, family and provider, but in actuality he is rebellious against God and can't hear his voice. God is using him at this moment for his provision for my life and his son's. He can see the swelling on my face and the things I am taking like garlic, peroxide, skullcap herb, and charcoal toothpaste to kill the infection, but yet he wants to prolong the appointment. He constantly discusses how the infection can get into my blood, but yet he continues to prolong the date. Why? I can now see the answer in the flesh because when I address him on the surface level, he gets upset and an argument starts. God has got it under control. I have to listen to the Holy Spirit because I have caused many arguments by not listening because he operates strictly from the flesh and wants me to respond in the flesh. When I do not respond in the flesh, he gets quiet and his spirit searches for another door that is opened in my emotions. I have to close all doors before full elevation occurs. He is blinded to his own ways like the double-minded man discussed in James 1:8. I just have to continue to remain in prayer. I use my unpublished blog on my website to tell my story and what the spirit is saying as I walk through the birth canal of deliverance from my Egypt because I am still in the wilderness in training. All of God's promises have not been fulfilled in my life. I pray that the dentist that I will be visiting on August 21, 2019 has favor with the Lord, and if he doesn't, something intervenes for the visit to be cancelled. I pray that the spirits surrounding him and his office are bound causing no harm to me, my family or my physical body. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
